To Shadow, or Not to Shadow, dirty little secrets

As I mentioned in my recent post I don't keep a personal Book of Shadows. Not really.

I keep a Grimoire, sort of a big recipe book. It will have large and small public rituals and even sometimes photos from those events. I do not however keep a diary of all my private ritual workings.

I tried, I really did. To me, taking time to write the 'formula' down for every spell, every ritual, and dreams, and all the other things that people put in their magical diaries? I wouldn't have time for anything else! I've been doing this for close to 19 years, I'd never have room for all of those volumes either.

I encourage my students to keep diaries of important events in their growth, but as I started so very young, I don't have a lot of that material anymore.

This path is a personal DAILY spiritual journey for me, and to stop and decide which is important enough to write down every last detail, I feel, makes my daily devotionals and 'smaller' workings, seem less important.

Every stick of incense I light, every candle I anoint has meaning, and that boys and girls, is the secret. Find meaning in "all acts of love and pleasure are my rituals". Sabbat or Esbat, weekday or Holy day, find beauty, and spiritual connection with them all.

My faith is a daily journey, not a box to be dusted off at "Easter and Christmas".

Everyday spirituality becomes extraordinary simply by being present in the moment; during all the daily tasks. Moments of small rituals occur throughout the day, which makes the pagan path much more rich and satisfying. No need for fancy books or tools. I agree with your post; though I do have a book of shadows, it is more for storing info and interesting items, not as much of record of rituals or spells.
